The Blogger Positivity Campaign: Letter to an Author Who Inspired Me

Hello, everyone! As you may know, I've been participating in The Blogger Positivity Campaign, hosted by Jillian from Jillian's Books. It's a short event meant to bring back the positive feelings that we need in the book blogging community. You can follow along on Jillian's blog, my blog, all the other participating blogs, and on Twitter by using #SpreadTheLove.

It's time for another post, and this time, it's a letter! I don't know if you all know this, but I love writing letters, and a few have already been posted on my blog. This time around, I'm writing to an author who inspired me.

So, sit back, relax, and enjoy my letter to this amazing author!

Romina,

I'm sure that by now, you already know that I'm a huge fan of yours. It's kind of a given, considering how I like to fangirl about Rho, Matthias, Hysan, and the rest of the gang in the Zodiac books. Seriously... they all rock!

What you might not know about me is that I kind of struggle with science fiction. I don't know why because I love science. It takes a lot, and I mean a lot for me to really and truly love a science fiction book.

But your books, Zodiac and Wandering Star, were both amazing reads for me, and I loved both of them. While the space concepts in Zodiac weren't completely new for me, they were given new life. I loved your world building and characters. I loved how I was able to really imagine everything that I was reading like it was a movie going on in my head. Then you did it again with Wandering Star, and you kicked it up with the girl power by letting Rho really shine. That was a bad ass move, and I love you for it.

I don't know if you know this, but you were the first author that I ever really reached out to. You see, I was still really new to blogging... I think by the time I had received an ARC of Wandering Star, I was only around the book blogosphere for like two months. Because of that, I was extremely nervous to message you on Goodreads, but I acted like the Leo that I am, and I just hit "send" before it was too late. I just needed you to know just how much I loved your book.

Since then, I'm not so nervous. I have you to thank for that. You showed me so much kindness and gratitude with your response, and I have never regretted sending you that message.

I like to think that we're friends because we totally are. I love getting online and chatting with you. I love telling you where I think events and characters in your books will go. But mostly, I love you for being you. You are one of the kindest authors I've ever come across on the Internet. You put your readers first, and for that, I thank you.

You've made me feel important as a reader and as a blogger. And I know that you've made other people feel that way too.

I hope that if I ever get a book published, I can do what you do. You've inspired me to be more outgoing. You've inspired me to take little risks.

So thank you, Romina. Thank you for taking the time to respond when you were getting ready for your debut last year. I know I've said it a million times already, but it really did mean the world to me.
